The greatest disparity in financial literacy exists among African Americans. To make changes in this area, Tomeka Purcell created a book series and corresponding dolls to help educate, entertain and inspire children and family travelers.

Morgan, an African American doll, boasts smooth, dark skin and curly hair, in line with the image young Black girls see in the mirror and an ideal toy to connect with children and parents. Alongside Morgan, the Morgan Series books highlight the fundamental pillars of financial literacy, like saving beyond a piggy bank, how youth can understand earning, when to get an allowance and much more.
With the Morgan College Pack and Morgan CEO Pack, kids receive a doll, book, coloring book and plush puppy, alongside messages about saving for a college career and the importance of becoming an entrepreneur, ideally suited for children from kindergarten to 10 years of age.
Purcell is CEO of PMG Worldwide, Inc., and served as Official Home Mortgage Lender for Netflix’s Selling Tampa. Known as The Money Maven, she is a nationally recognized financial empowerment coach, best-selling author, educator and speaker.

“My books and dolls assist with hands-on learning with books and coloring books. The Doll teaches children to love themselves because the doll looks like them and they can relate,” said Purcell. “My company is Black-owned and promotes self-love with an emphasis on financial literacy at an early age to carry over to adulthood.”
