Today’s parents are discovering a one-size-fits-all approach to family travel doesn’t necessarily work if the kids’ program at the resort you’re looking at doesn’t mesh with your children’s ages. A great fit for your teen might not work for your toddler, for example, and vice versa. Here is a round-up of age-appropriate activities at properties around the world and here at home, designed to make your vacation planning a little easier.
The Chatwal in New York, for example, rolls out the welcome mat for babies and toddlers with its Honest Oh Baby! Kit, packed with organic toiletries, a Chatwal Charlie stuffed animal, a bedtime story book and a menu of organic baby purées, courtesy of New York’s The Lambs Club restaurant.
The property also offers a Family Excursion Package that trims rates on a second room by 25 percent, offers complimentary meals for kids 12 and younger and entertains young guests with a Family Movie Night, complete with treats. Other features include milk and cookies at turndown, an in-room children’s puppet theater and a limited-edition Margherita Missoni backpack.

Children aged 3-5 are the perfect age for a stay at London’s The Kensington, where the concierge team will keep little ones content even on rainy days with a teepee set-up in their guestroom. To add to the fun, they will also receive their own lantern as well as milk and homemade chocolate chip cookies at turndown.
andBeyond’s new Bateleur Camp, which reopened in March on Kenya’s Masai Mara, is a great fit for young safari-goers aged 6 to 8. The company’s WILDchild program teaches kids to identify animal tracks and droppings, build a fire the Maasai way and engage in conservation through games and activities.
Or take your school-age children to Provence for a stay at posh Domaine de Manville, where they can play in the Kid’s Club — complete with gypsy caravans, cooking classes and a 10-person private cinema — while Mom and Dad enjoy golf, the spa and Michelin-star dining.
Have babies and tweens? La Petit Reserve kid’s club at La Reserve Geneva offers supervised fun for young guests aged 6 months to 13-years. The club, whose headquarters is in a treehouse, is outfitted with game tables, an obstacle course, a suspension bridge and even a fireman’s pole. Summer visitors can also enjoy tennis and sailing camps.
Everyone associates Paddington Bear with London, but devoted fans know his homeland is in Peru. With that in mind, Belmond offers new four- and seven-night A Bear’s Life packages that include cookie making — bear shaped, of course — a Paddington-themed movie-under-the-stars night, afternoon tea in a secret garden with plenty of marmalade (his favorite treat).
