Rome is a walkable city any time of year, but during the holiday season, family travelers can get an extra special treat with a walking tour that takes you through a winter wonderland of Christmas lights. ArcheoRunning, a tour company designed to pair the beauty and culture of the city with physical activity through both walking and running tours, recently announced its newest tour, the Christmas Light Walking Tour.
This tour of the historic city center takes you to popular sites like Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Navona and Via de Corso, as well as some off-the-beaten-path side streets to give you a unique and intimate glimpse of the city. Along the way, you will visit local Christmas markets, holiday carousels, nativity scenes and get the chance to sample some delicious traditional Roman holiday treats. The tour ends at one of the most famous spots in the city, the Spanish Steps.
These special, three-hour tours will be offered throughout December, running from Dec. 1 to Jan. 6. The tours begins at €320. One of the intentions of ArcheoRunning is to offer a sustainable glimpse into the Eternal City, so the tour’s organizers have taken extra care to ensure eco-friendly light displays have been selected to highlight during this tour. Tours will be led by the company’s founder, Isabella Calidonna, who is not only a certified running coach but also an art historian and therefore an excellent person to share the history of the beautiful city sites featured on the tour.
