Japan is quickly becoming one of the world’s most sought-after destinations, and all types of travelers, from solo to multigen families, are finding unique ways to experience the country. Inside Japan, a leader in curating authentic Japanese experiences for visitors, has a unique way to see the country that appeals to families with kids of all ages.

The Theme Park Family Adventure package from Inside Japan offers a 12-night tour through Japan focusing on some of the world’s most exciting theme parks. The trip, a curated, self-guided experience, starts off in the nation’s capital for a visit to Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea.

While in the city (the first four days are spent in Tokyo), the family will also have a full day with a private guide for a tour customized to meet your family’s specific interests. This is a great way to explore the city itself, making sure you have the experiences your family members are interested in. You can shop, visit cultural sites like the Imperial Senso-Ji Temple in the trendy and traditional Asakusa neighborhood, or visit modern marvels like the 634-meter Sky Tree Tower that overlooks the entire city and offers tons of great dining and shopping experiences. You can also explore educational attractions, like Tokyo National Museum, or simply take in fun sites like the Hachiko Statue at busy Shibuya Station and experience the organized chaos at the nearby Shibuya Scramble street crossing.

The adventure then moves on to Kyoto on the bullet train, an experience in itself watching Japan fly by at incredible speeds. While there you’ll stay in a traditional Kyoto-style townhouse and enjoy fun experiences like taking a bicycle tour of the city. You’ll also get to visit Toei Eiga Mura, a combination theme park and movie set.

Before returning to Tokyo, the experience then heads to Osaka for a visit to Universal Studios Japan along with an attraction unique to the area, SpaWorld. This destination is home to hot spring baths, Jacuzzis and saunas, along with an actual waterpark so the whole family can experience the traditional hot spring bath experiences Japan is known for while still having some amusement park-style fun.

The last few days of the experience are spent back in Tokyo, where families visit fun attractions like Sanrio Puroland for some Hello-Kitty-themed entertainment; a Ghibli Studio tour to discover the history of Japanese animation; and a visit to Fuji-Q Highland, a Tokyo theme park home to record-holding roller coasters.

Visiting theme parks is an evergreen vacation for families, and when it takes place in a destination like Japan, you get to combine fun and adventure with exploring the fascinating nuances of a centuries-old society. Inside Japan’s packed theme park itinerary not only takes you to some of the world’s best theme parks, but the company’s travel experts also masterfully intertwine Japanese culture and history into an amazing vacation the whole family can enjoy together.

What is a Salvaged Stay and How to Plan One

Salvaged stays are an emerging trend in travel that let family travelers enjoy a unique way to experience a destination. Rather than staying in a destination’s big-ticket resort hotel or a cookie-cutter vacation rental, travelers look to the world’s repurposed properties, like abandoned mills and defunct train stations-turned-hotels that have found new life. These renovated properties are a lesson in sustainability and give families a chance to discover a unique view of the history of a destination.
