Kids

If there is one thing parents quickly learn, it is kids just wanna have fun. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways for kids — and the entire family — to have fun during a visit to Taiwan, from seeing pandas to soaring high above the city.

Maokong Gondola

For a different perspective of Taipei, board the Maokong Gondola, the first gondola system in Taipei City. The one-way trip aboard the gondola is about 20 to 30 minutes and makes four stops along the way — Taipei Zoo Station, Taipei Zoo South Station, Zhinan Temple Station and the Maokong Station, where you will find tea plantations and tea shops; be sure to order the famous “Muzha Tieguanyin” or “Wenshan Pouchong tea.”

Taipei Children’s Amusement Park

From the MRT Shilin Station, hop aboard the Children’s Amusement Park shuttle bus No. 1 and arrive at the shuttle’s namesake, the Taipei Children’s Amusement Park. Once inside, kids of all ages will thrill at the rides, ranging from the Drop Tower and Ferris Wheel in the Fantasy Forest and Dream Ocean part of the park, to the Transformers-style roller coaster and Wave Swinger in Magic Planet, to bumper cars and the dragon boat-inspired tilt wheel in Toy Soldier Kingdom. There’s much more fun to be had!

Taipei Zoo

You may need to set aside an entire day to visit the Taipei Zoo — after all, it is the largest zoo in Asia and has a panda house, home to Yuan Zai. When you are finished spending time with the cuddly pandas, meander over to the koala house for even more cuddly fun. There are lions and tigers and bears — and penguins and elephants and giraffes — and so much more, too. Oh my!

Yangmingshan National Park

Spend a day out in nature at Yangmingshan National Park, filled with waterfalls that can be spotted along marked hiking and biking paths. If you would rather not go it on your own, join an eco tour. Options include the Mt. Qixing and Mt. Miantian nature walks, hot springs tours, spring blossom tour, summer butterfly tour, autumn silver grass tour and winter hot springs geological tour.
