Take the family pedaling in Cambodia to explore the exotic, ancient temples of Bayon and Ta Prohm (used as the setting for the Paramount Pictures film Tomb Raider) on the new Spiceroads Angkor Family Explorer journey. Highlights include a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor Wat, learning a few words of the Khmer language, sampling traditional Khmer foods, crafting pottery, enjoying a performance of acrobatics and embarking on a kayaking and hiking tour of the jungle and the floating village on Tonle Sap Lake.
The trip — a total cycling distance of 43.7 miles — begins in Siem Reap with a visit to the acrobatic school in Phare. This year’s departures are on Tuesdays for the five-day tour. The going is easy, making it appropriate for younger family members and those with minimal cycling experience. Road surfaces range from tarmac to packed dirt trails, and mountain bikes are included. Prices begin at $950 per adult and $760 per child. Single supplement applies. Airfare is not included, but airport transfers can be arranged upon request.
