Sugarloaf Mountain has attracted outdoorsy families and aspiring skiers for years and offers enough adventure activity for every age and season. Hike along the Appalachian Trail in the Bigelow Preserve and take in the fresh air and scenery, or check out the Anti-Gravity Complex complete with rock climbing and a skate park. When you’ve worked up an appetite, head into town for some food and small-town family fun.
Head to Panthertown Valley in Jackson County, N.C., or, as it’s also known, the Yosemite of the East. After getting some steps in and exploring the natural beauty of Jackson County, bring the family into town for food, grab a German brew with the older kids at Heinzelmännchen Brewery and check out local shops and goods.
