Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Gets a New Rollercoaster

Myrtle Beach already has plenty of ways to entertain families, from 60 miles of beaches to the Carolina Opry and absolutely everything in between. But one spot families love to visit, Family Kingdom, is about to get a brand-new attraction, and we hope it will be unveiled before the kiddos head back to school.

Family Kingdom is the only seaside amusement park in Myrtle Beach, which makes the already fun-filled coastline even more exciting for families. The new coaster, which has been shrouded in secrecy ever since it was announced last year, still has many details under tight wraps (like the name and the exact opening date), but the current plan is for this new ride to be unveiled late this summer.

The coaster will feature three inversions, nearly 2,000 feet of track, hit speeds of 50 mph and stand at 100 feet tall. In other words, teens are going to love it. It will join the park’s already impressive roster of thrill rides, kiddie rides, family-friendly rides and a nostalgic wooden coaster known as the Swamp Fox. And unlike many other amusement parks, you don’t have to pay an admission fee to go to Family Kingdom. You can buy a wristband for access to all the rides you want, buy credits to ride just the rides that interest you and the kids, or simply tag along and watch while the kids ride to their hearts’ content.

The new ride at Family Kingdom will just add to the many reasons why Myrtle Beach is a favorite vacation spot. Great weather, accessible beaches, great food, and plenty of options when it comes to hotels and vacation rentals, there is no end to the fun things you can do. And with Family Kingdom sitting right on the shore, you can enjoy the sunshine and refreshing sea breeze while the kids enjoy the rush of adrenaline that comes from the riding coasters and playing carnival games.
