Children’s programming and games are standard on most transcontinental flights, and Neos Airlines is no exception. While the Italian carrier is relatively new to the U.S. market, launching its first New York (JFK)–Milan (MXP) flights in 2021, it now counts Rome (FCO); Palermo (PMO); and Bari, Puglia (BRI) (as of June 2025) as destinations from New York. It has also established a niche as an affordable carrier with premium attributes and a soft spot for family travelers.

While receiving a gift and special treatment from the crew enhances a child’s flight experience, the kit’s introduction of offline, non-screen activities adds another dimension of comfort for the parents, as well.
The ultimate goal with the kits is to, “make flying a joyful experience for young passengers.” Comfortable red and blue headphones, meanwhile, are sized and shaped for kids’ smaller heads.
The kit is packaged as a dark blue backpack adorned with a superhero cat. Items inside are designed to stimulate creativity and learning. The centerpiece of the kit is an activity book with a set of colored pencils to encourage kids to think, play, and develop practical and creative skills while in the air rather than be plugged in the entire time. The sustainable components of the kit are another conversation starter between kids and parents. Amenity kits are made from rPET, an eco-friendly material from recycled bottles, while interior items utilize kraft paper and bamboo. This choice reflects the airline’s strong commitment to environmental responsibility.

According to a spokesperson at Neos, keeping kids entertained and comfortable is essential as one of its biggest markets are families doing leisure travel. “We have always loved providing the utmost care to every guest, starting with children,” said the spokesperson. “This adds to our ability to make the flight fun for everyone. Furthermore, our menus include dishes that even the little ones can like, and our music is sourced from legendary radio stations like Radio Italia, a historic partner of the company, and the new TRX web radio. It adds up to more relaxation for everyone.”
