Out with the old, in with the new. As 2018 draws to a close people everywhere make plans to ring in the New Year. If you should happen to find yourself in Los Angeles this holiday season, rest assured there is no shortage of fun ways to celebrate the start of 2019 in style.

Families can celebrate the New Year Times Square style with a giant outdoor party at Grand Park NYE LA. This premier Los Angeles New Year’s gathering in Grand Park (located between City Hall and The Music Center) is combining music, food and community for an outdoor New Year’s celebration. The biggest celebration in the city, this party will include two separate music stages, plenty of room for dancing and a 3-D light show. The party starts promptly at 8 p.m. and is completely free.

Head to L.A.’s San Fernando Valley to skate the night away at the Woodland Hills Outdoors Winter Ice Rink. For $25 revelers can enjoy the crisp night air while they skate to their hearts delight. Tickets include skates, a meal that includes a hamburger or hot dog with chips and a beverage, and a viewing of the ball drop in Times Square at both Eastern and local times. The rink is open from 6 .m. until midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Kids of all ages will love counting down to 2019 at LA Zoo Lights. Every winter this Los Angeles landmark opens its gates at 6 p.m. to a spectacularly decorated winter wonderland for a unique zoo experience. On New Year’s Eve it’s also the perfect place to celebrate the coming New Year with a dinner and dessert buffet, games and a magical carousel ride. A live DJ provides entertainment throughout the night while a live broadcast of the ball dropping in Times Square tops off the evening at 9 p.m. Adult tickets are $69 while children aged 2–12 are just $45.

To ring in the New Year with a bang, head to Long Beach for the Queen Mary New Year’s Eve Past and Present celebration. Guests are in store for a party of epic proportions aboard this elegant piece of living history. This party is for the adult kids in the family (guests must be 21 or older to attend) and will include live entertainment, dancing and an off-shore firework extravaganza. General admission tickets start at $115 but there are also VIP and dinner options as well. For an added treat book a room on board the ship for the full Queen Mary experience.
