Jamestown Settlement and American Revolution Museum at Yorktown offer free admission for veterans, active duty, reserve and retired military personnel (with military ID), plus up to three family members on May 27. Take part in the annual Yorktown Freedom Run on Memorial Day, 8–10 a.m. With 5K and 8K options, funds raised go to college scholarships for local high school students. The event is open for runners ages 8–80. Attend the Memorial Day Ruck March in Yorktown, 8 a.m.–12 p.m. The challenging march honors service members and supports the Puppy Rescue Mission.
Colonial Williamsburg also offers active-duty military, reservists, retirees, veterans and National Guardsmen free admission, May 24–27. This includes complimentary access to historic sites and two art museums, as well as complimentary shuttle service. Attend a Memorial Day Commemoration on Palace Green at 10 a.m., followed by a salute to fallen Armed Forces members at Governor’s Palace.

Billsburg Brewery in Williamsburg hosts its annual Brew with a View 5K on Memorial Day. The race kicks off in the brewery’s picnic area. All participants receive a t-shirt; finisher medal; and complimentary first beer, slushie or craft cocktail.
