Testing Korean Air’s In-Flight Children’s Amenities

In mid-2025, Korean Air upgraded its in-flight service for the youngest of family travelers with the launch of a new collection of children’s amenities, introduced on May 5, which is Children’s Day in Korea. The new offerings are designed to provide greater comfort and entertainment for children during their flight, and my 2-year-old daughter, Harper, recently received a special delivery of the various amenities.

The collection of children’s amenities grew from two to nine items, which entertain and reflect the varying needs of different age groups. The airline now offers two distinct kits: one for preschool-aged children (like my child) and another for school-aged children.

Harper immediately gravitated to the kid-sized neck pillow, as she knows her Daddy has a similar, blue, adult-sized one. This highlighted the idea that by making kids feel special and important, just like grown-ups, the airline shows they care about children, they’re welcome onboard and they want to make sure they are happy and comfortable in flight. That also brings a peace of mind to parents, who stress about bringing kids, especially preschool-aged toddlers, on flights and keeping them entertained and quiet. Knowing families and kids of all ages are welcome is important to family travelers.

The collection features practical, destination-friendly items such as a hooded beach towel, regular beach towel, memory foam neck pillow, slippers, bed socks and an airplane keyring. For in-flight activities the selection includes a coloring activity pack, a doodle book and a 3-D airplane paper craft. The water pen and water coloring pad earned a big thumbs up from Harper and mom, delivering mess-free in-flight entertainment that mimic popular coloring pads kids use at home and in school. The children’s amenities vary across long-, medium- and short-haul routes, with the route’s characteristics and season taken into consideration.

The children’s headphones were also upgraded. This was another item Harper gravitated toward, as she’d just received a pair of headphones for a toy at Christmas and she sees myself and her dad wear our own headphones. The airline replaced its previous reusable headsets that needed to be returned after the flight with appropriately-sized headphones kids can keep.

According to Dong Wook Lee, managing vice president and head, In-Flight Service Department, Korean Air, “Our goal was to create moments of joy and comfort, whether it’s a child getting creative at 30,000 feet or resting with their new pillow. It’s our way of welcoming our youngest guests on board and helping the whole family create wonderful memories together.”

I’d say Korean Air achieved that goal.
