For many family travelers planning a trip to Europe from the United States, a non-stop flight is a dream. Each additional stop along the way raises the risk of something going wrong, making the experience a bit more stressful, especially when traveling with small children. Flights can be delayed, which can cause connections to be missed and luggage to be lost, not to mention adding more time to the travel portion of your trip, leaving you exhausted and with less time at your destination.
Non-stop flights are much more convenient, but they are not available from every airport. Thankfully, Portland International Airport now offers a non-stop flight to London, making travel across the pond more convenient.
Launched in June, the Portland–Denver route is the only direct route to London available in Oregon, offering convenience for residents of Oregon and southwestern parts of neighboring Washington. This British Airways itinerary launched in June of this year, offering five flights per week directly to London’s Heathrow Airport.
The 787-8 Dreamliner offers three cabins, giving a range of affordability options, all including food and beverage service. Flight time is just less than 10 hours, allowing families to arrive in London rested and ready to go enjoy the city’s incredible sites like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and the London Eye. Flights depart from Portland five days a week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at approximately 6:55 p.m. As a member of oneworld, passengers can earn miles also compatible with American Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
