United Airlines is making its MileagePlus program more flexible for its frequent-flyer customers in response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and global travel restrictions.
All MileagePlus members with current status as a Premier Silver, Gold, Platinum or 1K can enjoy status perks until Jan. 31, 2022.
United also reduced qualifying thresholds for each status level by 50 percent for 2021. Refer to the table here for a breakdown.
Members need to complete a minimum of four flight segments on United Airlines (including United Express) to qualify for the next tier level. Considering customers will be traveling less due to the current restrictions, the carrier increased the number of PQP that can be earned through United’s credit cards.
May 1–Dec. 31, the carrier doubled the maximum number of PQPs customers can earn using their United Explorer card. The airline also quadrupled the maximum of what can be earned with the United Club card.
