Where to Take the Family in London This Holiday Season

London transforms into the ultimate winter wonderland come festive season, and family travelers will find a plethora of events and activities in store in this cosmopolitan city. From ice skating to holiday markets, here’s what’s in store in London this holiday season:

 

Battersea

Glide at Battersea Power Station

London’s only riverside ice rink returns with vintage fairground rides, stalls and new official partners. Opening Nov. 8, this year’s Glide features even more attractions, including a Carousel, traditional Helter Skelter, Tin Can Alley and Colours, Churros & Sweet Shop, and more. Glide at Battersea Power Station remains open for eight weeks and features three interconnected ice rinks for skaters of all levels, complete with a 30-foot Christmas tree in the heart of the rink. The on-site Glass House bar offers a variety of refreshments, themed entertainment and cozy views, and families will find more than 140 shops, bars and restaurants across Battersea Power Station. Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

A festive playground for all ages, this iconic London event boasts ice skating, thrilling rides, holiday markets and immersive shows. Kids love wandering through the Christmas village, taking a spin on the Giant Wheel and zipping down the Real Ice Slide. The winter wonderland will also be home to Zippos Christmas Circus, street food and more. This year’s theme for the event’s Magical Ice Kingdom is Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, in which more than 500 tons of snow and ice are crafted into various scenes and characters from the children’s classic. Hyde Park Winter Wonderland will kick off Nov. 21 and remain open through Jan. 5. Purchase tickets here.

Windsor Great Park Illuminated Light Trail

Just outside of London, Windsor Great Park Illuminated Light Trail promises a magical evening escape for families. Open Nov. 15–Jan. 4, this family-friendly event invites visitors through a lit trail of sparkling lights, enchanting woodland creatures and immersive installations. Returning for its second year, Windsor Tavern will also open. Tickets are on sale now.
