Travel Tips

WhereverFamily proudly announces a partnership with The KAI Foundation, a non-profit organization building medical clinics and maternity wards in Zambia. Travelers can look forward to a charity travel auction in 2020, with proceeds directly benefitting The KAI Foundation.

After a visit to the region, long-time travelers Henry and Clare Kartagener decided to build, staff and maintain a maternity hospital in the small village of Mugarameno in Zambia. The new facility brought much-needed medical services to expecting mothers and families in the area. As the first building of its kind there, the maternity ward has welcomed more than 150 newborn babies since its construction.

With such success, a second facility is in talks for Cambodia. Look for more details on fundraising efforts in 2020.

In addition to creating the maternity ward, the founders are also building homes that will house a government-stationed doctor to remain on premises. Once completed, the new complex will include dormitory-style rooms for volunteers visiting and helping at the facility.

Experience the Night Sky Like Never Before in Oregon’s Outback

I’ve looked up at the night sky almost every night of my life and have always been fascinated by the way the experience changes from day to day and place to place. But on recent family travel to Oregon, I got to experience it like never before in the Oregon Outback. I was staying at the lovely Brasada Ranch in Powell Butte (not far from Bend) and, as the day came to a close, my group boarded a van with Wanderlust Tours and began the journey into a region of the Oregon desert known as the Oregon Outback.
