Today, Nov. 8, is National STEM Day. To honor the day, WonderWorks Myrtle Beach will host science labs throughout its building and is also accepting applications for its annual youth art contest.
Today, the on-site labs explore the principles of press, temperature, density, origami and more. All the labs are located next to exhibits and attractions showing the same scientific theories being studied in the lab. This is the second year WonderWorks hosted such a celebration in addition to its more than 100 hands-on, interactive, science-based exhibits guests can explore year-round.
“WonderWorks is all about STEM. Of course, we want guests to come and have a good time in our building, but we also want them to leave having learned something new while they’re here,” explained Robert Stinnett, general manager, WonderWorks Myrtle Beach. “National STEM Day is a great way for us to enhance that experience and add to our collection of hands-on activities for everyone to enjoy.”
ART-OLINA: Youth Art Gallery of the Carolinas, with a theme of “Imagination” this year, will display the chosen local artists’ artwork on display in the WonderWorks art gallery. Applications will be accepted through Dec. 15. Winners also receive four complimentary tickets to WonderWorks Myrtle Beach. Learn more.
WonderWorks is also welcoming back student groups to the upside-down house, an amusement park for the mind offering more than 100 hands-on exhibits rooted in STEM principles. Learn more about booking field trips.
