Take a Cruise
Located on the picturesque coast of the Pacific Ocean, San Diego has year-round opportunities to enjoy the water and Mother’s Day is the perfect time to take mom on a special cruise to show her how much she is appreciated. Hornblower Cruises is offering two excursions — a Champagne Brunch Cruise featuring live jazz music and a Sunset Dinner Cruise. The brunch cruise provides a buffet, bottomless Champagne and live entertainment and departs at various times from morning to afternoon. Cruises range $79–99 per person and run approximately two hours in length. The dinner cruise, which lasts approximately three hours and costs $89 per person, includes a three-course dinner and a complimentary glass of Champagne or sparkling cider to enjoy while you cruise through San Diego Bay and enjoy the beautiful sight of the lights of the city.

Experience Native Culture
The annual Balboa Park Pow Wow
is an amazing cultural experience that celebrates the heritage of numerous native tribes and gives visitors an incredible opportunity to learn about Native American culture. With the festival falling on the same weekend as Mother’s Day it creates a unique way to spend the day with mom. The festivities will include native music, dancing, singing and vendors selling food, crafts and artwork. Admission to the event is free and the event runs 10 a.m.–6 p.m., on May 11th and 12th.
Brunch at an Iconic Landmark
San Diego’s historic landmark, the Hotel del Coronado, is the perfect place to experience the glamour that made San Diego a playground of the rich and famous. Make a reservation for the Mother’s Day brunch so mom can enjoy some of that classic charm. Guests will be treated to live music and all mothers will receive a special gift from the hotel. The extensive menu will include a breakfast station, a carving station, a poke station and a sundae station so there is sure to be something to satisfy the appetite of every member of the family. Reservations can be made ahead of time in either the Crown Room or in the Ballroom with a view of the ocean and the event, which costs $140 for adults and $65 for children 4–10 (children 3 and under eat for free), runs 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
