Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival: Nov. 7–17
Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander culture — a vital part of the City of Brotherly Love — the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival showcases Asian cultures through film screenings, discussion panels, food tastings and a slew of live events. Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show: Nov. 8–10
Next up, the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show hosts a handmade artisan sale at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Not the untouchable art in the museum, but the quality is close to it. Peruse expert-level designs in jewelry, textiles, mixed media and more — all for sale and completely unique.
Dilworth Park: Nov. 8
It’s already that time of year to strap on your ice skates and do a few laps around Dilworth Park. The beloved rink opens to skaters 5:30–6:30 p.m., during the Fire and Ice Festival. The grand opening celebration is a great kick off for the winter season, complete with music, food, warm drinks and lots of fun.
Moby-Dick Marathon Reading: Nov. 9–10
For the history buffs and bookworms in the family, The Independence Seaport Museum is a great stop on your visit. This year, the museum hosts The Rosenbach’s 25-hour reading — an overnight adventure — Nov. 9–10. Families will sit in on the reading of Herman Melville’s classic in honor of his would-be 200th birthday.
Mean Girls: Nov. 19–Dec. 1
Get in, losers … Mean Girls is going to Broad Street. The famously funny Tina Fey (an Upper Darby native) film is taking over Broadway Philadelphia for a limited time, Nov. 19–Dec. 1.
6abc Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade: Nov. 28
What’s a list of November festivities in Philadelphia without mentioning the country’s oldest Thanksgiving Day parade? For the 100th year, the parade hits streets Nov. 28, complete with fanfare, balloons and wall-to-wall celebrations around the city. Find somewhere to watch the game or stick around for dinner later, as this parade is one for the books.

United Continues Its Global Expansion
United Airlines keeps soaring to new heights, recently announcing another expansion of its leading global route network. The airline added new non-stop flights between Newark (EWR) and Marrakesh (RAK), Morocco; Tokyo (NRT) and Cebu (CEB), Philippines; and Houston (IAH) and Medellin (MDE), Colombia. That’s not all: United also plans to increase flights to popular worldwide destinations including Hong Kong (HKG); Seoul (INC), South Korea; and Porto (OPO), Portugal. Following the recent agreement to increase flights between the U.S. and Chinese governments, the airline now adds four weekly flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Shanghai (PVG).
