The Americans With Disabilities Act made it possible for people with disabilities to go places beyond what was previously possible, but traveling with a family member with disabilities still poses some challenges, especially when those disabilities are severe. All hotels are required to have wheelchair-accessible rooms — usually limited to extra-wide doors to accommodate wheelchairs and roll-in showers with benches. Thankfully, some hotels go to great lengths to make sure all families get to visit fun destinations without leaving anyone out.
Las Vegas, known for its over-the-top hotels and casinos, offers several top-of-the-line hotels going above and beyond the basic ADA compliance standards to accommodate all guests, regardless of level of need, including these amazing properties:
This beautiful property boasts a number of standard ADA-compliant rooms with shower chairs, roll-in showers, and low-set shelving and furniture, but it also takes accessibility to the next level. Two of the hotel’s rooms also allow guests who require a lift to transfer from bed to chair or from chair to toilet and shower. These rooms come equipped with motorized lifts on recessed tracks in the ceilings of the beds and bathrooms. These Hoyer-style lifts can accommodate guests up to 300 pounds using a sling to assist with transfers. You can either bring your own sling for use with the lift or rent one from the hotel.
This incredible resort hotel offers every amenity under the sun to ensure a spectacular stay for guests, including great handicap accommodations. Like the Bellagio, The Aria offers numerous accessible rooms along with a few extra-equipped rooms with motorized lifts mounted to the ceilings to help guests transfer. Wheelchairs and power scooters are also available upon request from the front desk.
This property also offers in-room lift systems along with manual and motorized wheelchair rentals, but the rooms also make sure every detail is accessible for guests in wheelchairs, from lowered peepholes in the doors to raised outlets on the walls. The bathrooms are equipped with lowered towel bars and raised toilets. In addition, the hotel’s pool is equipped with a lift to help wheelchair-bound guests into the water.
A stay at any of these great hotels will always leave visitors with fun memories of Las Vegas. Thanks to the awareness for those with special needs, there is no reason anyone should miss a trip to Vegas.
