With COVID-19 and social distancing lingering into fall, we might not be able to enjoy all our favorite fall activities the same way we did last year.

Check out this list of fun fall activities adhering to safety guidelines and social distancing.

Go Out

A lot of pumpkin patches are open and allowing guests to pick their perfect pumpkin. Gather your family, put on your fall attire and hit the pumpkin patch — once everyone has their own pumpkin, head home and get creative and competitive. Whether your family decides to paint or carve their pumpkins, turn it into a competition to see who can make the best one.

Fall is one of the best times to get out and explore the world around you. The leaves are changing colors and falling to the ground, creating a picturesque atmosphere. Whether you drive through the seasonal foliage or take a walk, it is still worth the trip.

Stay Close to Home

In some parts of the country, it won’t be too long until the weather takes a frigid turn, so take advantage of the cool weather and enjoy a nice family picnic. Stay in your backyard, or venture out to a local park to eat by the lake or scenery.

Another way to enjoy the fall weather before it gets too cold is to plan an outdoor, fall-themed scavenger hunt for the family. Include items such as a pumpkin, scarecrow, skeletons, ghosts and any fall decorations you can find.

There is nothing better than cozying up with blankets, family and snacks on a chilly fall night to watch some classic seasonal movies like Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, Casper, Matilda and The Goonies — maybe not all technically fall or Halloween movies, but the kids will love seeing “new” kid classics.
