A new study from Vacasa, the nation’s leading vacation rental management platform, found 48 percent of parents are planning to travel with their kids — however, it also showed a near-even 46 percent are planning a vacation with their spouse only. After a year of homeschooling, parents need a break this autumn!
The Fall Travel Trends Report offered insight into how travelers are thinking about vacations this season. For parents planning to travel with children, 41 percent of Americans would most likely travel for a family event, with 35 percent saying a family reunion would most inspire them to travel.
The report also found 61 percent of Gen Zers and 59 percent of millennials are taking their first plane ride of the pandemic this fall, while only 31 percent of Boomers plan to do so. Many are still opting for road trips (53 percent), a domestic trip (42 percent) and camping excursions (23 percent).
More than half of respondents, at 53 percent, are planning to take a trip that was postponed from earlier in the year, but that varies by generation: 71 percent of Gen Z are taking make-up trips, with 63 percent of Boomers making new travel plans.
Despite a rise in COVID-19’s delta variant, more than half of Americans are planning travel for the fall, and flocking to nature. The highest-booked destinations for September and October in the Vacasa network include the Outer Banks; Kauai, Hawai’i; Moab, Utah; and the areas around Acadia National Park in Maine.
