With spring around the corner, it’s time to start planning your spring family travel. Vacasa, a leading travel rental website, teamed up with Allison + Partners to see how many Americans were ready to get out and explore, where they are headed and why they choose specific destinations. According to Vacasa’s 2022 Spring Travel Trends report, the spring travel season is going to be popular, especially for millennials, parents and remote workers. More people are also planning a spring break trip compared to last year.

Vacasa went through its search data to see which destinations were the most popular for rentals in March. Destinations included Destin, Florida; Gulf Shores, Alabama; and other sandy towns. About one-third of travelers are booking rentals because of the properties’ value for money (65 percent) and access to a full kitchen (56 percent). These amenities come in handy for families traveling with young children (49 percent) looking for a vacation home rather than a hotel.

Some other key findings are more than half of Americans are planning a trip this spring where 37 percent are planning to travel during spring break specifically. While for some, traveling with a partner, family or kids are still high up on the list, more than 23 percent of travelers are planning to go on vacation with friends.

This year, about 32 percent of the travelers who responded said where they were going and 28 percent said with whom they were going. It seems most people travel for friends and family events like reunions, birthdays and other celebrations. Most Americans are staying in the United States for a domestic trip (75 percent), 23 percent are planning a staycation and 18 percent are planning a trip abroad.
