Travel Tips

Family road trips can be a lot to handle — no matter if it’s a long or short trip. If you plan to hit the road at all this summer, make sure you have necessary supplies to keep the whole family entertained.

Cleaning Supplies

When spending a long time in the car, you will need cleaning supplies. Make sure to pack tissues and napkins, as you don’t want to be stuck in a situation where you don’t have anything to clean up a spill or wipe a runny nose. Speaking of cleaning up a spill, don’t forget the Wet Ones or child wipes. If kids are snacking during the trip, things can get sticky, so you’ll need to use wet wipes to make sure the mess doesn’t spread to other parts of a child or the car. Lastly, don’t forget the trash bags for the used wipes, snack wrappers, empty water bottles and other trash that may accumulate throughout the trip.

Entertainment

You can’t embark on a road trip without packing entertainment. Download a bunch of movies, tv shows and games on your phone, iPad and the kids’ electronics so everyone can be distracted for hours. If you don’t allow that much screen time, opt for coloring books, reading books or puzzles. You can also make up games as you go like iSpy, the license plate game or going on a picnic.

Snacks and Drinks

Constantly stopping for snacks will get expensive on a road trip, so you are better off stopping by the grocery store ahead of time and planning out snacks and drinks. Pack them all in a cooler with ice to make sure they stay fresh and cold throughout the duration of the trip.
