Multigenerational

Insurtech company VisitorsCoverage recently conducted a survey regarding travel habits. More than 1,000 frequent travelers were questioned about travel habits and plans for the coming year.

Travel Insurance

Seventy-nine percent of those surveyed said they are more likely to buy insurance in 2023 than they have in the past. Fifty percent said they purchased travel insurance in the past.

Concerns

When asked about travel concerns, the economy/inflation (29 percent) and flight delays (22 percent) were the top concerns. Risk of illness (15 percent) and inclement weather (15 percent) also ranked high.

Inspiration

Social media offers travel inspiration for 71 percent of respondents, particularly Facebook (82 percent), Instagram (77 percent) and TikTok (61 percent). Friends and family offer the highest source of inspiration at 76 percent.

Transportation

For 2023, 84 percent of those surveyed plan to fly to their destination. Road trips are still popular, with 78 percent planning a drivable trip. Cruising (48 percent) and train trips (44 percent) are also options.

Airplane Pet Peeves

Of those surveyed, 8 percent said they would cancel their trip if assigned a middle seat on a flight. For those willing to take the middle seat, 35 percent stated they would rather sit between toddlers than sit between a bickering couple (27 percent), armrest hogs (16 percent) or people who remove their shoes and socks (14 percent).

The Creepy Appeal of Dark Tourism

While the term dark tourism applies more widely to places associated with tragedies, death and the grimmer moments in history, at its heart is a fascination with the bizarre, mysterious and spooky — qualities certain to attract older kids and teens. United Airlines Celebrates its First Class of United Aviate Graduates

As the only major U.S. airline to own a flight school, United Airlines already hit a major milestone, and now the carrier celebrates another important — and historic — step as the inaugural class of United Aviate Academy pilots graduates, leading the next generation of aviators. The 51 students in the graduating class were majority, at 80 percent, women and people of color — another stride toward United’s goal of training 5,000 new pilots by 2030 with half women or POC.
