BWH Hotels invites family travelers to experience sustainable practices across its global portfolio. The brand prioritizes sustainable and responsible tourism through its Because We Care program and various partnerships with eco-friendly brands.

The Because We Care program focuses on three pillars of sustainability: Earth, People and Community. Through EPC, the brand aims to strengthen one community at a time by implementing eco-friendly practices, fostering diversity and giving back to those in need.

BWH Hotels worked with Tesla to install electric vehicle charging stations at properties throughout North America, with plans to expand internationally. The brand recently partnered with Green Key Global, a sustainability certification organization for the hotel industry, to implement a consistent sustainability program across BWH properties in North America.

Best Western Premier The Lodge On Lake Detroit in Minnesota planted more than 4,000 indigenous perennials to protect the local shoreline. Ten Hill Place Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland, implemented a Choose to be Green program, in which guests may forgo housekeeping services. Best Western Plus Kamloops Hotel in Canada sources many of its supplies from vendors within 100 miles of the property. Nordic Hotel Forum in Tallinn, Estonia, is the first hotel in the city to have its own beehives, housing more than 360,000 bees. Best Western Plus City Hotel Gouda in the Netherlands boasts more than 215 solar panels on its rooftop, which generate about 25 percent of its total energy.
