Destinations / North America

Active family travelers will find more than legendary beaches when they travel to southern Delaware. It’s easy to combine bicycling and kayaking with a vacation at Rehoboth Beach, and a promotional package makes it easy to save money, too.

The Southern Delaware Bike & Stay Hotel package includes special offers and discounts at restaurants, shops, breweries and even ice cream shops, as well as a 20 percent discount on electric bike rentals. Simply reserve at one of the participating hotels and receive a code and interactive trail map to claim your special offers from local businesses.

The wide choice of participating hotels includes the luxury Hotel Rehoboth in the heart of Rehoboth Beach; the historic Mansion Farm Inn in Milton; and the pet-friendly Atlantic Oceanside Dewey Beach Resort in Dewey Beach, along with other family-friendly and budget lodgings.

Among the trails you can cycle are the 15-mile History & Nature Trail from Rehoboth through Cape Henlopen State Park, the Ft. Miles military installation and the new raised-platform trail at Gordon’s Pond. Stop for lunch at Grain On The Rocks at Lewes Ferry Terminal. Those traveling without children can take the 20-mile brewery/distillery route from Rehoboth using Bike & Stay coupons for discounts on tastings.

With the Southern Delaware Paddle & Stay Hotel package, visitors staying at a participating hotel can paddle through Southern Delaware’s scenic waterways while enjoying discounts on dining, shopping and entertainment.

Paddle the calm waters alongside towering cypress forests or spot birds in the salt marshes as you take advantage of the changing tides on the Broadkill River between Milton and Oyster Rocks. The Edward H. McCabe Nature Preserve, which has a floating dock and picnic area, is a good spot for a lunch break.

Choose the incoming tide to paddle from Cape Henlopen State Park to the Lewes Boat Ramp and past the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal. Paddle out to the East End Lighthouse and explore sea life along the inner breakwater. One of the participating businesses, Delaware Paddlesports in Lewes, rents kayaks and paddleboards.
