Cruising

With kids now back in college, parents might need a welcome distraction. Luckily, Holland America Line offers some immersive and exciting itineraries this spring semester, allowing parents to explore the California coastline, the eastern Caribbean or Alaska.

Here are some itineraries great for parents seeking a fun and educational trip after dropping the kids off on campus:

Six-Day Classic California Coast

On this cruise, witness whale migration and learn about the annual journey from wildlife experts. Parents can also explore one of the largest caves in the world and hear about the glamorous Hollywood history related to Montecito.

Seven-Day Eastern Caribbean

This trip brings guests to a UNESCO World Heritage site in Puerto Rico, El Yunque National Rainforest and other cultural sites on the island. Puerto Rican food and beverages in San Juan also await.

Seven-Day Alaska Inside Passage

This round-trip cruise from Vancouver, British Columbia, allows guests to experience nature’s power at Tracy Arm and Glacier Bay. In Juneau, views include Mendenhall Glacier, while in Ketchikan, guests learn about the salmon industry and how it shaped the area. The trip also heads to Skagway, where guests step back into Gold Rush history. The itinerary also delves into the native tribes and their cultures at every port of call.

Want to learn a new skill while onboard? There’s no shortage of experiences to pick up while on your next Holland America Line journey. Learn about the different ports during EXC Talks on the ship, or view several onboard presentations. Try your hand at pickleball and learn from the experts thanks to the cruise line’s exclusive partnership with the Professional Pickleball Association. Parents can also take part in a whiskey-tasting class on board select Holland America Line ships.
