Destinations / North America

A new property in New York City’s Financial District, Q&A Hotel caters unexpectedly well to traveling families.

Located in an otherwise residential building, the property is on several lower floors with a tucked-away lobby. With more than 100 guestrooms, there are several types to choose from — studio, deluxe studio, executive studio, one-bedroom, one-bedroom with office and two-bedroom. The one-bedroom and up are most suitable for families, as each also includes a couch and plenty of floor space for multiple sleeping arrangements.

During my stay, I had an extremely roomy one-bedroom suite with office. Immediately upon entering the guestroom, I found myself in the suite’s office, which offered a desk area and extra seating. A first bathroom was on the right, with a full bath. Further on, there was a full kitchen with stainless-steel appliances including a full fridge, stove, oven and dishwasher. Service for eight included plates, bowls, silverware and several types of glassware. The kitchen also included all food prep items you might need to make a meal in your room, from mixing cups to a toaster.

Near the kitchen counter, a small table allowed seating for two, while on the far side of the room, an expansive sectional and coffee table offered additional seating in a comfortable, homey and well-lit space.

The bedroom is likewise spacious, with a huge walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom identical to the other. Throughout the entire suite, storage is plentiful and the high ceilings make it feel even larger.

Other nice amenities perfect for families include laundry services, a full gym and a marketplace with both grocery items and ready-made gourmet food items for a quick meal. A full-service lunch and dinner restaurant is planned to open by the end of the year and WiFi and international calls are complimentary.

Q&A Hotel was originally built for business travelers coming to the Wall Street area, but management found families, particularly those traveling internationally, love staying there as well. The extra room, quiet environment and thoughtful amenities really make it suitable for families who would prefer not to be squished together in a tiny space for the majority of their trip and who might enjoy cooking for themselves, rather than eating out for every meal during vacation (which can get pricey in New York!).

All in all, though, the hotel’s homey, comfortable atmosphere wins over any traveler.

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
