Age Specific / Kids

Whether you’re stuck at the airport, awaiting a connection or just passing through, there are a variety of kid-friendly escapes in airports allowing children to play, relax and take a break from the travel grind.

Haneda Airport

While traveling with children through Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, stop in the newly opened Star Wars-themed lounge. As part of the Japanese airline’s five-year contract with Disney, the themed lounge follows the launch of All Nippon Airways’ four Star Wars-themed aircrafts.

In Terminal 2, the lounge offers the ultimate sci-fi oasis for young fans away from the hustle and bustle of the airport. Similar to the aircraft recently launched in the same theme, the lounge is decorated with images of beloved robots, R2-D2, C-3PO and BB-8.

The lounge will be open daily until 9 p.m., and boasts fun elements for kids including a slide, picture books, bench seating and various games and activities. The space was created primarily for young children to have a fun, unique and safe place to play within the busy airport.

During some downtime between flights, bring young fans and kids through the unique children’s airport lounge. Take a few turns on the slide, play games and mingle with other traveling Star Wars fans.

BWI Thurgood Marshall

Traveling through Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport provides a unique opportunity for families and children to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.

Head out to the BWI’s conveniently located Thomas A. Dixon Jr. Aircraft Observation area. Just outside the airport guests can stretch their legs and take an extended walk through Friendship Park, hit the jungle gym with kids and relax away from the active airport without missing your connection.

Easily accessible to both travelers and locals, the observation park boasts a new playground, walking trail and ice cream truck. Watch airplanes take off while enjoying a snack outside before heading back in for your connection.

Chicago O’Hare International

While in Chicago, stop in Terminal 2 for some educational fun at the Kids On the Fly exhibit. Provided by Chicago Children’s Museum, families with children of all ages head to the interactive exhibit that includes hands-on aviation experiences with air traffic control towers, luggage stations, cargo planes and helicopters.

History buffs enjoy a visit to the museum for a tour of the restored F4F-3 Wildcat, the exact plane WWII hero and airport namesake Lt. Commander Edward O’Hare flew in the war.
