Multigenerational

Just in time for the reenactment of the Boston Tea Party on its historic anniversary, Dec. 16, Boston’s Old South Meeting House and the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum invite locals and guests to take part in some rebellious fun.

Marking the 245th Boston Tea Party anniversary, the annual reenactment is a fun way to take in the city and nation’s history with the family.

Guests attending the event, along with more than 100 re-enactors theatrically recreating the scene with a passionate debate at Old South Meeting House just as it occurred nearly 300 years ago at the historic hall, head to the historic venue before kick-off, 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Guests and local protestors follow the procession to the waterfront to witness the Sons of Liberty destroy loose tea in rebellious protest. Join in the fun with #tossthattea, or send tea from home and be there in spirit.

Contributing loose-leaf tea is a vital part of the process. Participants can bundle loose-leaf tea in a package (not tea bags) and ship to the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum’s address. The kids and history buffs in your family enjoy the official participation certificate once the tea is received on or before Dec. 1.

Next, head over to the free-for-all Huzzah for Griffin’s Wharf! 7:30 – 8:00 p.m., before the formal procession from Old South Meeting House to the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum.

Follow the beating drums to the main event, all before the 8–8:30 p.m. Boston Harbor, a Tea Pot Tonight, also free to the public and a fun representation of the Destruction of the Tea held at the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum.
