Blockade Runner Beach Resort, a popular North Carolina landmark for six decades, celebrates its 60th anniversary with a nostalgic giveaway. Sixty family travelers have the chance to experience a beach getaway for just $16 a night, the original room rate from 1964.
Built in the era of surfing culture, Beatlemania and Mustangs, Blockade Runner Beach Resort quickly became a retreat for families looking for oceanfront tranquility. Now, the resort stands as North Carolina’s only hotel with dual beach access to both the Atlantic Ocean and bay inlets. Guests can expect all guestrooms to have unobstructed views of the water. The resort also includes two restaurants, a pool with private cabanas, an oceanfront lawn with seaside gardens, and private beach access with chairs and umbrellas. The resort also offers award-winning children’s programs; water activities; and surfing and waterside activities such as adventure and sunset cruise sailings, kayaking and paddleboarding.
“For six decades, the Blockade Runner has been a sanctuary for families and friends to forge memories that last,” said Nicolas Montoya, general manager, Blockade Runner Beach Resort. “This giveaway is our heartfelt thank you to loyal guests and an invitation to new visitors to experience the magic of Wrightsville Beach at a throwback price.”
To enter the giveaway, visit Blockade Runner Beach Resort’s website and fill out the online form before March 22. Sixty lucky winners will be chosen at random and notified March 22, the anniversary of Blockade Runner’s opening day. In addition to the special rate, travelers will receive a 1964-themed welcome amenity.
