Disney Destiny, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, is well worth family travelers taking a second look. The ship, which set sail on its maiden voyage Nov. 20 from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is themed all around the heroes and villains of beloved Disney films and shows. Think Black Panther, Spider-Man, Captain Hook, Loki, Cruella de Vil and Maleficent.

Spider-Man is visible from the ship’s stern, while Hercules stars in a new Broadway-style show. Fans of The Lion King won’t want to miss the new Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King dining experience, while hero Minnie Mouse welcomes guests and takes part in heroic activities.

In the ship’s Grand Hall, Loki, God of Mischief, can be seen in “The Legend of Loki,” when he crashes a celebration and declares himself king of the ship. The experience includes Loki’s fight to claim the ship as his own.

Other Disney villains like Maleficent will hold court in a one-of-a-kind encounter in the entertainment lounge, showing her magical powers and casting spells with special effects. Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog awaits passengers in his makeshift parlor, where he will show off his tricks and swindles. And Cruella’s piano lounge is the place to spot the notorious villain perform.

Marvel fans will also find a themed lounge area on the ship.

Disney Destiny sails on one- to seven-night voyages throughout the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale. See available voyages here.
