This spring, there’s a new way to enjoy family travel in the great outdoors in San Francisco. Built on top of the Presidio Parkway tunnels, Presidio Tunnel Tops is a brand-new park designed for families to get outside and enjoy themselves with the iconic Golden Gate Bridge as a backdrop.
The 14-acre park will include picnic areas, nature walks, a campfire circle and plenty of play and learning areas for kids. The Cliff Walk offers a beautiful hike to three different overlooks that deliver incredible views of Alcatraz, Angel Island and the Golden Gate Bridge. The overlooks not only give families a chance to stretch their legs in nature, but the stunning views also make for some ideal Instagram-worthy photo opportunities.
The Presidio Steps, a gently descending series of grass-covered steps perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view, connects the Cliff Walk to the park’s lower features like the Outpost, a two-acre natural landscape-inspired play area, and the Field Station, which gives kids the perfect opportunity to discover the nature and culture of the Presidio at this interactive science and art center.
Admission to the Presidio Tunnel Tops, part of the national park system, will be free, easy to access through public transportation and open seven days a week. The park will give families a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the city with plenty of space to relax and play.
