You may have heard of the many great benefits of traveling through Europe easily and affordably using a Eurail pass. But did you know the company also has great products to make traveling the Greek Islands just as simple? The islands certainly aren’t connected by railroads, but Eurail has managed to create products to help visitors navigate the intricacies of getting to the islands, and around them, in a way that can work with any budget.
Eurail Greek Islands Passes give you two different options for visiting the Greek Islands. The four-day pass allows you access to domestic ferries between the Athenian port of Piraeus and the islands within the Dodecanese, Cycladic, Saronic Gulf, North Aegean and Northeast Aegean chains, as well as the large island of Crete. Tickets include economy-class fares, but they also get you a 30 percent discount on an upgraded class seat if you choose.
The six-day pass includes two international travel days that allow you to travel to or from Italy by ferry to the international Greek port of Patras. Once there, your pass includes a transfer to Piraeus, which services most of the Greek Island routes. Like with the four-day pass, this pass allows you access to most of Greece’s island chains, which includes popular destinations like Mykonos, Santorini and Rhodes.
Each pass allows you to use your travel dates within one month, and while seat reservations don’t come with an additional charge, you will need to make them in order to use your ferry passes. You are also eligible for a 30 percent discount on additional ferry tickets not included in your pass, as long as they are purchased for travel within the active period of your pass.
