Enjoy wide-open spaces with the entire family at Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah. The resort boasts myriad activities for every adventure level at any time of the year.

Ride the chairlift during the summer months for scenic views of the mountains. Kids to grandparents can enjoy this peaceful ride while listening to the sounds of nature and possibly catching a glimpse of wildlife, like wild turkeys, deer, butterflies, moose and, on a rare occasion, bears! Once at the top of the mountain, enjoy lunch with a view at Bearclaw Cabin.

For the more thrill-seeking family members, try mountain biking, hiking, zip lining or horseback riding. Those who opt to mountain bike can ride more than 25 miles of single-track terrain while weaving through trees and open spaces. Horseback riding excursions gives travelers two trail options: Elk Meadows or Stewart Falls. Both trails offer beautiful scenic rides in a small group setting. Other offerings include sunset trail rides or a combination yoga and riding adventure. The zip line tour is a four-line, fast-paced glide from the top of the mountain to the base. Participants can reach up to 70 mph on the steepest line.

Family members not into outdoor adventures can partake in an art class. Adults and kids can sign up for pottery, painting, soap making, leather journal making, handmade jewelry and glass blowing courses. Visitors can relax while releasing creative energy for a unique souvenir to bring home.

The spa is open daily by appointment only. Services include massages, manicures, pedicures, facials and body treatments. The body treatments promote natural healing through gemstone aromatherapy, herbal exfoliation and a sage and sweet grass ritual.

Kick Off Summer with an Artistic Scavenger Hunt on Block Island, Rhode Island

Eleven years ago, Rhode Island’s Block Island started a trend; artist Eben Horton crafted a series of handblown glass floats which were then hidden around the island for visitors to find. Today, the tradition continues and, as we head into summer family travel, Rhode Island’s popular summer tourist destination gears up to begin its annual scavenger hunt, the Glass Float Project.
