Asia

Located on the west coast along the Arabian Sea, Goa, India, is an idyllic refuge for families. Relax on the beach, tour museums, visit historic landmarks and enjoy quality family time in these top family-friendly Goa locales.

Nature

Located along the Mandovi River, Dudhsaga Falls boasts picturesque swimming holes, a four-tiered waterfall and endless natural beauty. Hike along Devils Canyon, Dudhsagar viewpoint, historic railway stations, Dudhsagar Temples and a slew of natural lakes and wonders. Located in Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary, this scenic territory protects flora, fauna and historic temples, including the Tambdi Surla Temple.

Visit the wildlife refuge, Bonda Wildlife Sanctuary, in Ponda Taluka. Stroll through the botanical garden or bring the kids to Deer Safari Park, viewing Gaur and the Sambhar deer.

History and Culture

The Museum of Christian Art is a unique stop while in Goa, as it was the only Christian art museum in Asia, established in 1994 and once an active convent. Located just off the Mandovi River, surrounded by churches, visit the museum along a religious tour through the area.

One must-visit while in Goa is Fort Aguada, a 17th-century Portuguese fort and lighthouse. Stroll through the historic site and enjoy unbeatable views of Sinquerim Beach and the Arabian Sea.

Chapora Fort boasts a blend of history, culture, natural beauty and wildlife for the family. Located in the Bardez region of Goa, Chapora Fort overlooks Chapora River and was once a fort seized by the Portuguese in 1510. Take in the views of Siddeshwar Temple and the surrounding water.

 Oddities and Museums

Ancestral Goa is an open-air museum and fun site for kids. Enjoy cultural celebrations, dancing, pottery making and a variety of family fun.

In Benaulim, the Goa Chitra Museum is home to more than 4,000 artifacts from Goa’s history and traditional and past Goan villagers. Learn about the region’s history, once a Portuguese colony, and pay tribute to the region’s ancestors by visiting the beautiful ancient pieces.
