Enjoying an enviable location on the Delaware River in New Hope, Pennsylvania, Bucks County Playhouse, opened in 1939, is known as “America’s Most Famous Summer Theater,” having played host to a large number of well-known theater stars. I recently took in the theater’s current production of Anastasia The Musical, just two days after opening night.
I was immediately interested in the storyline of Anastasia. Starting at the beginning of the Russian Empire and traveling to 1920s Paris, the musical follows the potential missing lone survivor of the ousted and murdered Romanov family, the imperial royal family of Russia from 1613–1917. The bold and beautiful songs helped tell the story and the sets used modern video technology to create various settings. The show’s cast was overflowing with talent. The production did an excellent job ensuring each character had their moment, or moments, to really shine.
The theater is intimate, with just one level of seating. The on-site parking lot is valet-only. The whole experience was easy and pleasant, from start to finish, including the valet, the theater’s box office and staff, and the show itself.
Anastasia runs through Jan. 5, so take in one of the final performances. In 2025, the theater will stage productions of Hard Road to Heaven, The Apple Boys, Leader of the Pack, She Loves Me and Elf The Musical.

Jan 9, 2025Discover Why Port Arthur is the Cajun Capital of Texas
When it comes to Cajun culture, there are some pretty great places for family travelers to experience it, but all it takes is a short time in the charming town of Port Arthur to see why it is the best place to enjoy it. As the official Cajun Capital of Texas, Port Arthur has plenty of reason to boast. Sitting along the Gulf of Mexico, along the western shore of Sabine Lake, the birthplace of legendary musician Janis Joplin is home to a rich Cajun history dating back to the 1920s when Cajuns first settled in the area. Since that time, their rich cultural history has been nurtured and preserved through the local way of life in Port Arthur.
