Omni Hotels & Resorts took note of a recent family travel trend with its Omni Hotels & Resorts Generation Cup. According to AARP, skip-generation travel, where grandparents travel with their grandchildren without parents, is a growing trend in 2024. The Generation Cup offers a unique opportunity for grandparents and grandchildren to create lifelong memories together on the golf course.
“Golf has seen a surge of new interest in recent years and at Omni, we believe there is no better way to celebrate the game than playing with your loved ones,” said Spencer Cody, corporate director of Club and Golf, Omni Hotels & Resorts. “The Generation Cup will not only offer opportunities for competition and fun in our communities, but it will be the perfect way to showcase the world-class portfolio of golf destinations Omni encompasses.”
The Generation Cup is a year-long celebration of golf, family and competition offering golfers of all ages and skills the chance to compete in family-focused events. The tournament’s divisions are Grandparent & Grandchild, Parent & Child or Aunt/Uncle & Niece/Nephew, and PGA Professional & Family Member. Qualifying events, which will be held at 12 different Omni golf resorts across the United States, began May 24, and will conclude April 5, 2025. The format is a two-person modified best ball “shamble.” The top gross and net teams in each division advance to the National Championship in May 2025 at Omni PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas.
“At Omni, we love the game because it affords the opportunity to invest time in relationships and creates lifelong memories,” said Kurt Alexander, president, Omni Hotels & Resorts. “Rarely does anyone pick up the game without the encouragement of a father, mother, grandparent, uncle, aunt, or sibling. For me, it was my dad, and The Generation Cup will provide the same opportunity for family members to come together, have some fun, and compete as a team.”
