Intrepid Travel has seen unprecedented growth for family tours over the past several months, which prompted the company to launch new Retreat-style tours for family travel. The four new Family Retreats are based in Morocco, Turkey and England, and immerse families in one location. The new style celebrates slow travel and each itinerary benefits local communities affected by the pandemic while also providing enriching activities for children and parents.
Turkey Family Retreat: Fethuye
This five-day tour connects families with the natural beauty of the world. Visit a turtle rehabilitation center, enjoy the blue waters of the Mediterranean and hike the mountainous terrain between Kayakoy to Oludeniz Beach. A traditional cooking class using locally foraged produce is another family-friendly activity.
Morocco Family Retreat: Ouirgane
On this four-day itinerary, families leave the modern world of Marrakech for a visit to Ouirgage, on the edge of Mt. Toubkai National Park. Hike, get to know the locals, try making iconic dishes and enjoy time poolside.
England Family Retreat: Cornwall
During four days in Cornwall, families can soak up sun, sand and sea, as well partake in walks through the history and nature of the area. A private yoga and wellness session and a visit to a family-run bakery making proper Cornish pasties round out the experience.
England Family Retreat: Peak District
This three-day tour takes in Britain’s first national park from its base in the country town of Castleton. Take in the scenic villages of Bamford and Bakewell and indulge in a spot of tea at a café that supports and is run by the local community.
