Whether you’re catching the tail end of Dia de Los Muertos this November or exploring Mexico City any time of year, you can find plenty for your family to do and enjoy.

If you are in town for the last two days of Dia de Los Muertos, Nov. 1–2, make sure you catch a midnight procession in San Andrew Mixquic, where the cemetery is covered in candles and flowers and nearby streets are lined with altars. The culturally significant and slightly spooky event will be an unforgettable experience. Then, don’t miss the more festive, third annual Day of the Dead parade, Nov. 2.

Whatever time of year, though, look for a stay at Ignacia Guest House; the bed and breakfast is cozy and stylish, while being sustainable at the same time. There are just five suites to choose from, so make sure you book your stay quickly. The bed and breakfast is set in a 1913 colonial mansion and you’ll enjoy daily, locally inspired breakfast and cocktail hour. Amenities include free WiFi, so you can upload all your fav photos from the trip to Instagram, or give Grandma and Grandpa a FaceTime call to let the kids check in.

Eat Like a Local offers family-friendly food tours of Mexico City that allow you a great opportunity to try out the local flavors while keeping the kids entertained all at the same time. If your kids aren’t quite the foodies you are, don’t worry — the tour is created with even picky little eaters in mind.

Acuario Inbursa is a relatively new Mexico City attraction. The underground aquarium is a bit discrete on the outside, but it makes up for its modesty entirely when you see the inside. There are all kinds of different sea creatures for you and your children to marvel at.

So you normally probably wouldn’t take young children to a museum focused on economics, but make an exception for Museo Interactive de Economia. This museum is totally geared toward making economics fun again, with exhibits that engage children and parents alike. Learn all about international finance in a way you never thought possible.

Another museum to add to your itinerary is Universum, where the focus is science and technology. The university-led attraction includes 13 exhibits halls on topics such as the solar system and the human body and a calendar filled with family-friendly events.
