This year, 14 new ocean-going ships are set to hit the seas, including three family-friendly vessels prepared to redefine family travel entirely.
Entering service in the first half of this year, Legend of the Seas is Royal Caribbean’s third Icon-class ship, complete with a massive Category 6 waterpark, immersive dining, Broadway production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, multiple pools, various entertainment venues and more. It’s set to become one of the world’s largest cruise ships, and families can expect designated family zones like Los Dunes mini-golf, a reimagined carousel and Playscape.
Setting sail this December, this vessel is the third in the cruise line’s World Class series. The new ship will debut The Clubhouse, an entertainment venue with classic table games, LEGO family zone, bumper cars, basketball, roller skating and more. The ship will also boast Luna Park, a multipurpose entertainment venue hosting interactive game shows, themed events, parties and DJ sets; The Harbour, the line’s outdoor park; and the longest dry slide at sea.
Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship officially enters service this March, offering 2,111 cabins and seven uniquely themed areas, including Marvel Landing, an upper-deck region featuring the longest rollercoaster at sea, Groot Galaxy Spin, Ironcycle Test Run and Pym Quantum Racers; Disney Imagination Garden, an open-air space with a three-deck-high LED screen for performances like Avengers Assemble! and Captain Jack Sparrow & The Siren Queen; San Fransokyo Street, inspired by Big Hero 6, featuring a street market, interactive games and more; and Toy Story Place, an interactive water playland.
