Just a short ferry ride from Seattle is an incredible museum, perfect for family travel and designed to delight and inspire young minds from 6 months to 8 years old. Located on Bainbridge Island, Kids Discovery Museum, KiDiMu for short, fosters play-based learning in a completely interactive setting for children.
The museum offers exhibits, play spaces, special programs and family events designed to encourage exploration and learning. Interactive exhibits are carefully curated to offer something for every developmental age, ensuring your child can play, learn and explore at a pace that is comfortable for them. Play spaces include an indoor treehouse, slides, a giant Lite-Brite-style activity, and activities encouraging the exploration of color, sound and movement, all of which also make a day of fun a day of growth and learning.
Getting there is easy. From the waterfront of downtown Seattle, simply take the walk-on Washington State ferry for the 35-minute ride to Bainbridge Island. Once there, the museum is just a short walk from the port. The ferry runs approximately 1.5 hours throughout the day, and round-trip fares cost $4.60 for children aged 6–18 and $9.25 for adults.
The museum is open Monday and Friday, 1–4 p.m., and Tuesday, Thursdays Saturday, and Sunday, 9 a.m.–4p.m. Admission is free for infants under 12 months and $8 for adults and children. Seniors and active military receive a $1 discount.
