Travel Tips

These days, taking the family to Walt Disney World can put quite a dent in the wallet. Fortunately, companies like David’s Vacation Club Rentals aim to help travelers save big on resort stays and more. Whether families visit regularly or are going to Disney for the first time, these tips and hacks from Melissa Mullett, CEO, DVCR, will help you plan an unforgettable vacation.

Through DVCR, families can rent unused Disney Vacation Club points from members who have leftover points they can’t use. Using these points will allow non-member travelers to stay in deluxe resorts like Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge,at a fraction of the regular price.

While some families may be cramped into a typical hotel room, families who stay in DVCR villas can take advantage of a bigger space, as well as a full kitchen and laundry. This also means families can save on dining by eating in the villa or preparing meals to bring to the parks. Guests staying in a deluxe villa can also enjoy premium resort amenities such as daily happy hours, breakfasts and access to a private club, all while keeping costs low.

To fully take advantage of this hack, make sure to book early. Melissa recommends planning about 7–11 months early, especially for peak times like summer and the holidays, or for popular resorts like Bay Lake Tower and Grand Floridian.

Another helpful tool when planning is DVCR’s Cost Calculator, which helps travelers see how many points are needed for each stay, and compares how much was saved versus booking directly through Disney’s websites.

These savings mean your family can use that extra money toward special experiences like character dining, Genie+ passes and behind-the-scenes-tours.
