Take your family travel to Velaa Private Island this summer! As part of an annual tradition, Aug. 5 to 11, Velaa Private Island hosts Kids Week, an educational celebration of summer break, completely free of charge to guests 4–12 years of age.
This year’s Kids Week has an out-of-this-world program, featuring Dutch astronaut, physician and physicist André Kuipers, who will share stories from his time in space. Kuipers spent more than 200 days in space across two International Space Station missions throughout his life — one in 2004 and another in 2011. He was the first Dutch astronaut to complete two space missions. Kuipers is also known for his video tour of the ISS, which gained more than 240,000 views on YouTube.
Kids can engage with Kuipers in a discussion and question and answer about space exploration over the course of two sit-down sessions — one Aug. 6 and the other Aug. 8. The astronaut will share insights, stories and more about space with kids and adults alike as part of a larger science-focused Kids Week.
Other activities during Kids Week include safari passport making, dolphin sightseeing cruises, behind-the-scenes kitchen tours, island scavenger hunts and more. All events are designed to keep children engaged and educated during the summer months.
