Last month, Disney’s Hollywood Studios kicked off its 30th anniversary with a character parade down Hollywood Boulevard, unveiling a new logo and a projection show at the Chinese Theatre. The park opened May 1, 1989, welcoming celebrities on its red carpet during the grand opening; at that time, the park was a fully functional television and movie studio and gave guests a look behind the scenes at Disney’s moviemaking process.
If you didn’t get a chance to visit in May, you haven’t missed out on all the fun. You can still visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios anytime this year to celebrate the 30th anniversary in style.
The park released a collection of special anniversary merchandise, including food, drinks, trading pins, tumblers, ornaments, apparel and more, which you can pick up during your visit. Brand-new and upcoming experiences celebrate the anniversary as well, including recently opened attractions such as Toy Story Land, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, An Incredible Celebration on Pixar Place and Disney Junior Dance Party.
Toy Story Land is already getting some enhancements, with a new table-service restaurant called Roundup Rodeo BBQ, with Western-themed play sets, toys and — every kid’s favorite plaything — oversized cardboard boxes. Once Toy Story 4 debuts in June, a new pop-up merchandise location will open at Toy Story Mania! with products commemorating the new movie.
If you’re visiting the park in late August, you may be able to catch Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Opening Aug. 29, it gives guests the chance to live out their own Star Wars-style adventure in a 14-acre setting.
Next spring, new attractions include Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, the first ride-through attraction in all of Disney Parks’ history to include the famous mouse duo.
You can still catch the projection show that debuted last month at the Chinese Theatre. The show, Wonderful World of Animation, follows decades of Disney and Pixar films, with nods to famous and lesser-known characters, as well as new favorites. The show leads into “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular,” each night.
For the older guests, they can celebrate the 30th anniversary with a toast. For a limited time, specialty cocktails are available, as well as tasty, limited-time sweet treats, including Incredibles Macarons and Lightsaber Churros.
All of the 30th anniversary fun is available for just a little while, so Disney fans should make tracks for Disney’s Hollywood Studios this summer.

When it comes to Cajun culture, there are some pretty great places for family travelers to experience it, but all it takes is a short time in the charming town of Port Arthur to see why it is the best place to enjoy it. As the official Cajun Capital of Texas, Port Arthur has plenty of reason to boast.
