Bring the family to experience art at Grounds for Sculpture. Located in Hamilton, New Jersey, the sculpture park and museum boasts more than 300 works across its 42 acres. Opened in 1992 on the site of the former New Jersey State Fairgrounds, artist and philanthropist Seward Johnson founded Grounds for Sculpture.
The collection features sculptures from 150 American and international artists. The museum hosts temporary exhibits in its six galleries. Sculptural works and installations are in different materials, including bronze, stone, steel and paper.
There are numerous features throughout the gardens including ponds, an orchard, an amphitheater, gazebo, courtyard and observation tower.
Grounds for Sculpture is home to Rat’s Restaurant
. Named for a character from Wind in the Willows, the full-service restaurant serves country French cuisine. There are three other dining options available. The French-inspired Van Gogh Café offers snacks, coffee and other drinks. The Peacock Café and The Gazebo are currently closed.
In addition to the park, museum and dining options, Grounds for Sculpture hosts educational programs year-round for all ages, including lectures, workshops, wellness activities, tours and performances. The space can also be booked for private events.
Grounds for Sculpture is currently operated by advance-timed ticketing only and overall capacity is limited. It is open to members and the public Thursday–Monday. Adult admission costs $18.
