No matter our true age, Disneyland is one of those places that brings out the kid in all of us. Whether you have young children, adult children or grandparent children, this year the park is giving everyone even more reason to forget how old they are.
Starting in January the park will pay homage to Disney’s first mouse and his leading lady with a brand-new celebration just for them. Mickey and Minnie Mouse have entertained Disney fans for the past 90 years and their legacy will be one of the park’s themes until spring.
New Mickey and Minnie-themed merchandise will be available throughout the park; food items on restaurant menus around the resort will feature Mickey and Minnie-themed foods; and there will be even more opportunities for park guests to meet the iconic couple and take photographs.
As the new year gets into full swing, Disneyland will also honor the Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year. While the Lunar New Year doesn’t technically start until Feb. 5, festivities are in full swing at the resort now until Feb. 17.
The park festivities will include themed decorations around the park focusing on the color red, the traditional color symbolizing the Lunar New Year. Characters will appear in decorative and colorful new costumes and the park will feature a Lunar New Year marketplace complete with street-style vendors selling delectable Asian treats. In addition, Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession will entertain guests with a traditional Lunar New Year parade and park entertainment will include festival-themed performances.
While a day at Disneyland can be exhausting, make sure you save enough energy to stay late so you can enjoy the Lunar New Year-themed water show once the sun goes down.
Start preparing yourself now for great things still to come as the park gears up for the unveiling of Star Wars land within the park. Star Wars attractions have always been some of the most popular park destinations for some fans, but, coming this summer, they can fully immerse in the movie magic with all new rides and attractions. Guests will be able to explore the planet Batuu, an all-new area of the park where they can pilot the millennium falcon in the Smuggler’s Run attraction and witness an incredible battle up close and personal on the Rise of the Resistance ride.
