Spring break season is quickly approaching and for families looking to escape the cold and snow, beach towns are a welcome retreat. But the epic partying many spring destinations are known for doesn’t exactly create a family-friendly environment. This doesn’t mean a well-earned beach vacation can’t still be had. These three beach towns offer families exactly what they are looking for — kid-friendly fun, plenty of things to do, beautiful beaches, and the rest and relaxation parents so badly need.
Avila Beach, California
Avila Beach is a great place to unwind in the California sun. This town is located near the Central Coast’s wine country, and there is an abundance of water sports and attractions like the nearby Central Coast Aquarium, along with plenty of trails for hiking and biking in the surrounding hills — and if you’re lucky enough to catch the California Super Bloom, then you’ll also have incredible photo opportunities during your stay.
Galveston, Texas
Galveston isn’t just a beautiful beach town; it also gives you a whole island of family fun to explore during spring break. The sandy beaches are a great place to play in the water and soak up the sun, but you’ve also got incredible family-friendly attractions like the water park at Moody Gardens, which also has its iconic three pyramids — Rainforest Pyramid, Aquarium Pyramid and Discovery Pyramid. Along with the fun attractions on Pleasure Pier, the great food and shopping, you won’t run out of ways to spend your family’s spring break.
Panama City Beach, Florida
Florida’s beaches are legendary for spring break, but Panama City Beach worked hard to keep partying at bay. It is still a popular destination for the college spring break crowd, but there are quite a few laws in place, like no alcohol on the beaches or beach parking lots and strict noise ordinances so families are able to enjoy the sandy beaches, local attractions and beautiful weather without disruption.

Icelandair is well-known for its stopover program, which allows passengers to stay in Iceland for a few days at no extra charge. It’s a great way for families to see a new place and explore a new country on their way to and from Europe. When my family travels, we enjoy spending a couple days exploring Reykjavik and Iceland’s natural beauty as part of our trip. Iceland has become one of my family’s favorite destinations. We always find something new to do, no matter how many times we visit.
