Headed to Acadia National Park? This small national park in Maine is easily navigable and offers plenty for families to enjoy and see, from shorelines to mountaintops. If you want to go on a hike, you have options, too, and some are particularly good fits for families with younger kids or novice hikers who may not be able to handle the steeper, longer stuff. Try…

The Cadillac Summit Loop Trail

While avid hikers would hardly call this a hike, for those whose idea of hiking is more of a nature walk on a paved trail, they’ll feel right at home here. The loop, which you drive up to via a scenic highway you must pay to enter, is paved and easy to traverse. It’s only a half-mile in length. However, the views are gorgeous and go on for days.

The Ship Harbor Trail

This trail is only slightly more difficult, at just 1.4 miles in total and an elevation gain of a mere 65 feet. Enjoy plenty of shoreline views (be careful around the rocky coast!) and keep an eye out for birds and marine life.

The Bubbles

This popular hiking option is just under 2 miles in length, with only 515 feet in elevation gain. The out-and-back trail takes an hour and offers great views. However, do note there are some slick spots after rain, and that you may need to do a little rock scrambling.
